The size of the Camlock is determined by the size of your hose tail or thread, whether male or female. For example, if you have a 1" (25mm) hose tail or thread, then the corresponding Camlock size will be 1". It is important to note that this measurement refers to the Inside Diameter (ID), not the Outside Diameter (OD) of the thread or hose shank.
How to Identify the Size of a Threaded Fitting Given the Outside Diameter (OD)
When identifying thread size, it is typically referred to by its nominal size. For instance, a 1" (25mm) BSP thread is specified by its nominal size, which corresponds to the Inside Diameter. However, the Outside Diameter (OD) of a 1" (25mm) BSP thread is not 1" or 25mm but actually 33.2mm at its widest point, known as the Actual Major Diameter.
